Not all emissions can be avoided. Recoal offers companies with difficult-to-avoid CO2 emissions verified CO2 removal certificates in mid-2026 to achieve their net zero targets.
Recoal uses moist biomass residues as a raw material for CO2 removal. The biomass residue absorbs carbon from the atmosphere and binds it.
High quality, in terms of efficient, environmentally friendly, and permanent removal and storage of CO2, has been at the heart of Recoal’s operations from the outset. Therefore, we ensure that our CDR services are certified according to the highest standards for technical CO2 removal methods via MRV.
We collaborate with a partner accredited by the
International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA) (ICROA), which evaluates and verifies the collected data from carbonisation to subsurface storage, documenting the efficiency and effectiveness of the Recoal method for our future clients.
We are currently in this certification process and will be able to offer our first certificates on the German platform Ceezer.
Certifications in the carbon market follow the same principle as those in the food industry, where, for example, organic certificates are used. The goal is to demonstrate the otherwise unrecognisable quality of the CDR solution to clients.
In our case, the certificate is issued by a partner accredited by the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA), based in Switzerland. Within the MRV process, the partner sets the standards and methods for assessing the CDR. This MRV process is also reviewed at least once a year by an independent third party.
The removal certificates can subsequently be purchased by businesses to offset unavoidable emissions. One certificate represents one tonne of CCO2 removed from the atmosphere.

We are Recoal: Our history and our mission.
Highest quality and diligence are core values at Recoal. Together with our partner, we are currently preparing the final steps in the certification process.
From mid-2026, we will offer our first certificates for sale via Ceezer, thereby supporting businesses on their journey to net-zero.
